Haziq Grins Haziq's school rewards those who tops the core subjects with a certificate and a 50Riyal book store voucher. The core subjects are English, Maths, Science, Arabic, Islamic Knowledge (they call it Quran)) and French.
Haziq got a 100 Riyal voucher yesterday. It was Maths and science. Ruffles Haziq's hair. Well done Haziq! Alhamdullilah. Mother's Day : HaziqI have been slightly cross with haziq a few times. Mostly because he did something , which I can't remember what it was, but definitely something that deserve to be barked at. Many times after that I told him casually that you should come and apologise to me. But he never did.Last week, i got cross with him again. Again couldn't remember what it was about. i told him sternly after that, I am waiting for you to come and apologise. he did not. I even heard Sya told him, when are you going to say sorry to ibu. i didn't hear his answer though. So last Sunday, which coincidentally was mother's day, I called him after maghrib prayer. I was alone in the room still in my telekung and on the sajjadah. (pergh macam dramalah pulak). I talked to him about apologising to me whenever he did something wrong that is whenever I am cross with him. I told him, a mother's forgiveness and blessings must always be seeked by a child. For without it, life is without barakah. I am not sure about this actually. But there are countless stories (which I didn't narrate because I need to be sure of the actual story. Kalau cerita tanggang tu macam overlah pulak. Plus I told him the story before) of a child who has difficulty to die even because his mother did not forgive him for his wrongdoing. It's time to collect these stories. Can you pass me the stories, if you have any? Don't let ego overcome you.The longer you wait, the harder it'll become. And believe me not, if these continue to repeat, they will become habit that will turn as a norm. And what am I then? Just another person in your life? You have been saying about kissing the heaven under my feet. Now Haziq, this is what it meant. My blessings. A mother's approval. I want you to remember what I said today forever. Even when you are old. When you are 50. Even when I am not around in the world anymore. Haziq cried. I think he will be alright. It is just the sign of the emerging teenagehood. ![]() Feet can be a benchmarkDo you know that Haziq can now feet into my shoes? Not that it would be any use for him, unless he wants to wear heels. (Noooooooooooo!!)
Haziq's little foot next to his Dad's And soon, before you know it, he will be catching up with his dad. Really, they grow up too quickly. The EntertainerI really want to bring all my photo albums from Malaysia. Als the weight for all of them would be a bit too much. And my priority is still on my cili kering and ikan bilis. But I still manage two of them. One is my thick, lacy wedding album. Adakah ini bermakna akan ada a scan photo of gambar kahwinku?. And one small photo album, the one that they give you for printing a roll of film. The small album was pictures of the day before I gave birth to Zachary, also when I was in the midst of pushing him out of me, his bloody picture (literally) and the whole one month of Zachary in this world. I was flicking the album earlier, and one photo caught my attention. It was this one:- ![]() I believe Zachary was somewhat one month old this time. perhaps six weeks. As he seems alert with his surroundings. Batrisyia was three and Haziq was six. Haziq lives up to his role in this photo. He has always been the entertainer in this household especially among his siblings. Sya and Jack can never be the same cheerful children when Haziq is not around. So much so that there was one time I took only Sya and Jack to see Dory (our first meet), the two were grumpy and refuse to be happy.
The other day we went to the dunes (yet again). It was a foggy morning. So I opened the car door to enjoy the speed and the fresh air. Haziq stick out his head and came in with his hair sticking out. Sya and Jack tried hard to emulate but Sya's hair was too long while Jack's was too short. But they had fun laughing at their comical abang. But then haziq decided to go to another car because his friend was there. Suddenly the car became so quiet and the kids became grumpy.
I was bless to have Haziq who never show any form of jealousy when he first had a sibling. the moment he sees Sya, he began to play with her. The moment a baby was coming along, he'd plan things to play for the three of them. There was no attention deprive action from him. It was like he has so much love to give. he didn't have any problem sharing my love and his love. He has always been Sya and Jack's source for entertainment and fun and games. Such that sometimes Haziq has difficulty to concentrate on his homework, with Zachary fencing the foam sword on him or Batrisyia continuously wanting him to do something with her. On top that he has a short-span attention capability. Haziq so far never fail the role of being the one to create games and things to do. And you know something is happening around him because you can hear him miles away. Sometimes I wish for him to silence down. But most of the times, I am just happy that he makes my life so much more cheerful with lots of happy noise. And my mothering work so much easier. Good things for HaziqHaziq came back from school the other day showing a box with a calculator face on it. What is that, I asked. A calculator, he replied. Where did you get them, my next obvious question was.Apparently Haziq won a science quiz competition in school. The kind that the teacher ask an impromptu question and you give the answer. It wasn't the best calculator, but it was quite good for his standard actually. Basic Casio scientific calculator. I think I only had that calculator when I was doing my A Levels. The questions were 1. What is the first space craft carrying man into space? 2. What is the first country to launch a satellite? Err..so i asked him how did he know the answers. He said he read about Armstrong sometime last year. And I asked, and you remembered? Yeah, why not. OH so nerd. hahahhaha And he knew the second answer from watching Iron Giant. Why don't you give a try at the questions (without googling :D) Also Haziq did full fasting this Ramadan, Insya Allah..there is still tomorrow eh? I must give him full credit for it. I know it is hard to fast in this hot weather. What more with the vigorous P.E. that he still has to do. Under the hot sun as well. He attends all his afternoon activities, karate and swimming. Both are optional. he didn't need to go. But I encouraged him nevertheless and waited for his reaction. So far he did not complain directly or tell me he wants to quit fasting. Terharu aku. The swimming must be quite hard because he is swimming in an open air pool at 1 in the afternoon. And I know the teacher pressed the students quite hard in he pool. I am happy that he didn't ask to quit fasting even though I never force him and most likely allow him to quit anyway. Of course after interrigation. Maybe that's why he nevr bother asking. He is tired I know, that sometimes he would be grumpy when I asked him to recite the Quran or calling him to pray when he is resting. (tadi baru lepas kena marah) But otherwise i think he did well. I promised him and Sya a toy each. i am actually thinking of giving him some amount of money. I would let him spend on a toy of his choice with the amount of money given. Before that I will be guiding him to spend, and give some to charity and some to keep. We'll see how he fare eh? So readers, have you got the answer to the question yet? It was HaziqHeh heh it was Haziq who was on tele. And it was the AlJ@zeera Children's Channel, which I have just found out that it is only aired in the GCC and some part of Europes. Even I have never watched it. Elisa, apparently it is on Nilesat. It is an Arabic programme. That figures.Anyway Al J@zeera Children's channel launched a retail store selling children's stuff last Friday at the Vill@gio, one of the biggest malls here in Doha. And Haziq, well, he participated in modelling the store's merchandise. In short Haziq did fashion modelling. Hahahhahahha. He did the cat walk! On stage! In public! On tele! Except that err no one get to watch itlah. It started sometime the week before last, when the embassy called us and told us that AlJ@zeera wanted a Malaysian boy and girl around 8-12 years old. Somehow, the wakil ambassador thought of Haziq. then I got to talking with the agent. She said he needs the Malaysians to parade our national dress for some launching I don't know what. I said OK. It would be exciting eh? However, the next day she texted saying that Al J@zeera already has their Asian kids and costume, so they don't need Haziq. I said OK. Nothing lost there.
But then, the agent called me again the next day and said, you know what, why don't you send in Haziq's photo and we'll see from there. I send one. Apparently it was a va va voom photo. The agent loves Haziq instantly and put him back in. The other Malaysian girl was out of the story it seemed. And that was it. He went for practice nearly every night. And met a lot of other kids of different nationalities. Started off nervous and shy but took off afterwards with the rest of the boys and infact had to be told off for playing too much. On the day, he started off parading his national costume and after that he walked about the stage showing off the store's merchandise wearing the store's shirt as well. And then they were laughing, playing an imaginary guitar and high fiving each other on stage. He enjoyed himself alright. The only thing was I couldn't get good shots of him that night. The crowd was rowdy and most people in front of me are taller than me. :( The only time I get to snap was during rehearsal. There was one time I got a good snap. I was in front of the stage, smack at the the centre. I raised the camera and snap at the most perfect angle. Alas it was not a picture of Haziq but the Egyptian couple. And after that I got told off by the crew member that my camera flash was spoiling their shoots. :( Anyway photos of the night can be found HERE. It was a good experience for Haziq. He met alot of new friends and learn something new. He still look a bit stiff walking on stage, but it does not matter. He was happy.
gambar rehearsal ajele nampaknya And Haziq became NineThere is a lot about Haziq lately eh?Anyway he became nine on the 14th July. The same day Gartblue turned older. He is still the same boy in a way. Except with more knowledge than the previous year (perhaps?). Unlike me, he gets along with nearly everyone. He can speak both Malay and Enlish well. So in Qtar for instance, some kids only speak Malay and some kids only speak English and he can join any group, whereas the two groups rarely join each other. If you were drawing a venn diagram, he is the label where the two or maybe three curves lap. He avoids rougher boys though. He is not a toughie. He is still an extrovert. With stories to tell and imagination to narrate. Oh the other day we watched Harry Potter together. He said he liked the part when Harry was teaching his friends the spells. I said bravo. Teaching is a good way to learn more. It seemed to leave an impact on him. We'll see Other than that he is a happy nine year old boy. Err I said man earlier eh? Heh heh Anyway I invited a few friends for Haziq's birthday the other day. It was more of a gathering with a few of my ex officemates who happen to have young kids like mine. So I cooked a bit and had little silly games with the kids. here are some pics. CLICK HERE Other reads HAZIQ IS SEVEN HAZIQ IS EIGHT Haziq is now a man!!Not that you are not a man if you don't sunat (circumcise) though. (Disclaimer)I think I should start up writing about the things that I did here so that I won't forget. Especially about Haziq sunat. So when he grows up, I can reread it to just so he remembers I got Haziq sunatted the first week I got back. This is so hopefully we get him to heal quickly and we can do other things later. Initially I wanted to do it in KL. I changed my mind and decided to do it in Melaka instead for many reasons. Saves our precious holiday time. Lover get to be mummy's boy longer. Haziq got to be granny's grandchild. Eat! Eat! Eat! Free rambutans. So much space for kids to run about. To top it, my mother-in-law (I shall refer to her as mak here from now on) was sooo happy. Terharu. Plus plus plus plus point for me. Back to the sunat thing. Haziq did the clamp way. I think everyone is doing it now. Unless you prefer the conventional tok mudim style, sit on batang pisang kepit dengan buluh. It was relatively easy to jaga Haziq. Not much blood. Less pain (relative). Heals quite quickly. No need major pantang. Just to report, Haziq cried when the doctor injected the anesthetics. Yazid held him tight and was comforting him I was worried lover would shout at him. I underestimate my lover sometimes. Everyone watched the procedure, including JackJack who was beside the doctor. I admit I admit. I cried when i watched the doctor snip snip. And Sya saw I cried and kept asking me about it. Even Sya looked like she was going to cry. What more with Haziq grunting in pain. At one point Sya covered her face. Alhamdullilah everything went smoothly. It healed as expected. On the day the efxers met up and celebrated mr. aie's birthday, it was Haziq's one week sunat. He has not healed well at that time and we had to wait for this prince to walk like a robot. He was in pain each time he was not doing anything. He complained all the time. However, the pain seemed to disappear when he played PS2. I think it's good lah that he sunat lambat. Hopefully the pain taught him to be more empathy with his wife in the future. He semi enjoyed the attention but really appreciate the monetaries he is receiving. Jack on the other hand is already circumcised. So no sebok-sebok around him in the future. Macam tak bestlah pulak. In order to comfort Haziq, my lover told Haziq how his experience was worst. He had stitches. I told Haziq my friend's experience. He did conventional style. No anesthetics. No stitches. No laser. Togel aje. (he told me). I am not sure whether the approach to say that he is actually lucky, despite that he is in pain suppose to comfort him or agitate him even more. In the future he would probably laugh at himself just like all of us laughed at men who suffered this little pain. Oh some pictures here End of Term - HaziqHaziq did good for this term. He was the top for english. Also an excellent mark for his maths. Hooray!Generally, he did well for all subjects except for French. He got poor for pronunciation. Oh well. Here are some photos of him during the prize giving day. HERE He has always been doing well in his academics I must say. So well such that early this year when he hiccuped, he brought alarm to his teacher. His teacher brought to my attention that he was fooling around in class, not passing up his work when it should be due and even when it is passed up, the quality was clearly low. No effort whatsoever. Last term he wrote a mere seven lines for a writing test. Apparently he was seated besides this boy who is shall I say quite playful himself. haziq probably enjoying the fun begin to lax himself and his works. His teacher and I discussed this in front of Haziq and made it clear this playing around and neglecting his work is obviously not acceptable. He was actually making jokes out loud even during the exams, to the annoyance of many. The teacher asked me whether I would want to move Haziq away from this boy. His name is Ali by the way. I answered no! Sound like not a very good move considering that I should be worried about this boy's influence on Haziq. I said no because I think removing the boy is just a superficial solution. It will only cause resentment and might cause Haziq to retaliate and become worst. I wanted to give him a chance. Telling him I want to trust him and allowing him to prove himself. I think the root problem is discipline. Haziq's self discipline. Knowing what he should and should not be doing his own self. How not to let people influence you for the worst of you. If he cannot learn it early enough, he will face even worst when he is older. I should know, considering what I went through as a teenage and most of my adult life. I told Haziq make lots of friends. In the process bring your friend up. Improve each other and not put yourself lower than what you were. What is the point of progressing in life if you regress. Haziq got a punishment from me that day. He was asked to write an apology letter for both myself and his teacher. I knew he cried. I think it was sufficient. Anyway both the teacher and I think we made the right decision. For Haziq soared back to what he should have been. He is still playful and can be easily distracted though. Oh please help me to help him with his concentration skills. He is always fidgety. And because of that sometimes he does not listen well. Any suggestions? I am happy to report to you, that Ali has improved in his academic work as well. Job well done to everyone. While you are at Haziq's photos during the prize giving day, do peek at his various concert day photos HERE. Haziq's Life Dilemma A few weeks ago everyone in Haziq's school was given a task of collecting donation to raise fund for the school's intersports uniform. The incentive was, whoever manage to collect the highest donation will have a treat of one hour jumping in a bouncy castle sponsored by the school. I told Haziq to bring his form to the Fardhu Ain class on Friday. He was a bit nervous and shy to ask from the "uncles" despite looking excited the night before. I told him to pick on one uncle that he is most comfortable with, which he did. The rest was a breeze. Coincidentally on the very same day I was invited to eat eat session for both lunch and dinner. Haziq a little bit courageous, brought the form as well and collected more donation. I am very proud of him. Be cause really if it were me I would have shoved it to my dad and ask him to get it from his office friends. Actually I wanted to do that for Haziq but decided to drill him first before he grow up and get the idea for himself. The other thing was he set the precedence. After seeing Haziq talking the uncles to spare some change in the name of school donation, his other friends who are also in the same school did the same too. The little one asked Haziq to help him be the spokesperson. Not that Haziq is a good sales man though. he just said, "Uncle dia ni pun nak donation." Anyway surprisingly Haziq collected the highest amount in his class at a mere QR250. I was surprised. I expected more from the richer kids in his class. Haziq said some did not even come up with any money. So haziq get to jump his heart out for one hour under the hot sun on the bouncy castle. The thing is he can bring ONE friend, only ONE to jump silly with him. And that is his dilemma. He doesn't know who to choose. Many come up to him pleading to be chosen. Those closer to him said something wise, like "Chose wisely" or "Never give promises that you cannot make." Some keep on asking him who he would choose. Someone called him yesterday asking him whether he has make up his mind. Haziq is totally boggled. I asked him yesterday, in the attempt to be the wisest person he knows, to narrow down on people that he would really really have fun to play with. After a KFC lunch and a lot of running with his siblings in the mall, he said he has come down to two. But he couldn't make up his mind. I suggested him to ask his teacher whether she can make exception and allow him to bring two. I doubt it'll work but I think it is worth trying anyway. Then I said if it fails perhaps you can ask teacher how much did the two boys collected for the donation and perhaps you want to reward to the one who has the highest. If that doesn't make him happy, he can just follow his guts. Haziq is not as anal as I am. I know these two boys one is in the same nerd group as Haziq is. Oh yeah Haziq is in the nerd group. the one who is doing well in maths and all. The other one is the one who plays a lot and Haziq seems to be playing alot with him lately. So much that his schoolwork drop. Haziq's teacher was worried about Haziq slacking sometimes early last term and has identified that Haziq is very distracted with this boy playing in class. We both concluded that he is tired of being the goody in the class and wanted a wider range of new friends. So I don't know. I told him to make special doa to seek for Allah's guidance for him to choose. I told him to stick to his decision and know that he makes the right choice. I also told him to relax, don't be boastful, be humble to those not chosen and HAVE FUN! I am so anal. I can't wait to know who he would choose. An Empty BarrelSo now Haziq has advanced his Quran reading. Alhamdulillah. I have been s l o w l y teaching him the Quran. I am not a patient person thus an impatient teacher. Pity Haziq. Hope he can thank me one day. However, I have decided to send him to the mosque from now on. I think it is time for him to learn from a better qaree. In the hope that his tajwid would be further refined, dengan mahraj yang lebih betul segala, better penghayatan, lebih berkat dan bacaan yang lebih sedap di dengar. This has been my nawaitu, my intention from the very beginning. Once I am happy with his reading, and when I do find a good Qaree, I will send him off. So would be the rest of the children, Insya Allah. Ustaz said his tajwid is quite good and asked where did he learn before. Walauweh kembang seh (And thus empty barrel makes the most noise) His class is on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Our usual Quran reading time is every weekdays (Sunday-Thursday are the weekdays over here). I told him don't you think you can escape from my clutches. Muahahaha. Evil laugh while rubbing palms together. He would still need to recite the Quran with me on Wednesday and Thursday. I am hoping to tap his newfound knowledge. Tee he he I have other programmes with him on Sunday-Tuesday. *Insert more evil laugh.* You see I found this great board game from Goodwordkids. Its called JUNIOR QURAN CHALLENGE GAME! And O.M.G it is really a great game. It is a board game with a stack of cards filled with questions about the Quran. Syiok gila. It is a shame to say that I couldn't answer some of the questions from the cards. *hangs head low* but because I am the champion of the house I win all the time. Err lover has not played yet. He is working. Peduliklah. I champion! ![]() I believe Haziq learned a lot. For some of the questions that he is familiar with or the one that I have reference on, I will narrate to him on the following day. For difficult ones like why 7 for certain rituals, err ask ustaz. I am eyeing their QURAN CHALLENGE GAME with 600 questions after this. Bila dah khatam beratus kali the game. Go check out their website for other cool stuff they are selling HERE. But I didn't buy the games and books here. You can get it in MPH or most bookstores. Meanwhile try these questions Name the city where the angels Harut and Marut were sent?
